Chris Oswin, manager of the Alpine Angus Porepunkah property, has travelled to the US, New Zealand and all across Australia throughout his career. Chris says that its "not a normal practice, but it is an insurance policy" which helps him to make better breeding decisions. With his travels and experiance Chris has honed his eye for what makes a good bull, focusing on structure and temperament.

Alpine Angus, Mar 27: $9000 top | Weekly Times Commodities, Tuesday 27 March 2014
The Alpine Angus annual sale’s top price bull this year was sold for $9,000. ALpine High Flyer is a son of super sire Tuwharetoa Regent D145, and was one of two bulls that were purchased by Tony and Karen Golding from Little Meadows Angus stud at Dardanup, WA.

While many recent sales have recorded downturns in sales averages and clearances, Alpine Angus went against the trend and recorded a higher average at its sale last week. All of the bulls on offer were sold at the Rosewhite sale. The average sale price of $3,920 was 10 per cent higher than last year.

Clearance at Alpine | Stock & Land, Thursday 3 April 2014
Alpine Angus principals Jim and Clare Delany cleared all of their bulls at their Rosewhite auction last week. Tony and Karen Golding travelled from their Little Meadows stud in Dardanup, WA looking for sons of Te Mania Emperor and Tuwharetoa Regent with high figures and excellent muscle type. They found what they were looking for buying a son of each for $9,000 and $8,000 – the top sale figure for the day.
